red sign with raised gold lettering on both sides. Trade sign for the Hotel McCarthy, 96 Front Street. Also called the McCarthy Hotel. Mrs. Martin McCarthy, prop. The Hotel McCarthy burned down but at one time was used to house the New York State Troopers.
