Description
|
man's cutaway riding coat, red with brass buttons/BHC
This hunting coat belonged to Edward L. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew W. Smith, who took over the family residence after his parents' deaths.
The clothing was given by the Edward L. Smith family to the donor, Mrs. Winters. Her father, Samuel Davis of Saratoga Springs, and her husband, Walter Winter, Jr., served as guides for the many hunting expeditions of Edward L. Smith, and were close friends of his. A history of the Smith family may be found in the Centennial History of Ballston Spa.
