John W. Maxwell, father of the donor, was born September 27, 1865, on the old Maxwell homestead, Middle Line Road, Saratoga County, the present (1965) home of Quentin Little. He worked as a butcher in the slaughter-house of George Castle. He died March, 1937, age 71.
