A Brookside Harvest

A Brookside Harvest is a program designed to meet the needs of teachers and students in the study of social studies in kindergarten and grade 1 (NYS Learning Standards 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4).  A similar program is available for pre-K students.  The program is a living history celebration of 19th century American traditions in rural Saratoga County.  The program includes demonstrations and hands-on activities in gathering the harvest, preserving and cooking the harvest, keeping warm, and having fun.

This program runs for one week in early October for K-1 and group sessions last for an hour and a quarter.  Fees for the program are $2.50 per student for education member schools and $3.00 per student for non-member schools.

Programs for pre-K students last for an hour and a quarter and the teacher may select either preserving apples or preserving corn for their program topic.  Fees for pre-K programs are $2.50 per student for education member schools and $3.00 per student for non-member schools.
