in 1792 for visitors to the

After 1830, Ballston Spa began
to decline in popularity as a 
resort community.  The hotel
closed and the building reopened
as a school under the direction of 
Reverend Deodatus Babcock.

In 1865, Henry Mann, a local 
businessman, bought the building
and property for use as a private
residence.

In 1910, the building was leased
by Dr. Howard A. Gibbs who
opened the Brookside Sanitarium.
Once again the building was used
by people seeking the "cure."

In 1971, Saratoga County Historical
Society purchased the building to
house the historical society.  
Brookside Museum hosts 
education programs, exhibits,
researchers and more.
