SCHS strongly encourages the use of research and collections resources for research purposes. We offer the following services:
2. Photocopying of materials
3. Image Reproductions
If you are unable to conduct research at Brookside personally, research can be done for you.
Simple requests (those which rely on SCHS resources and can take under 30 minutes) can be done for free by museum researchers. Contact us at email@example.com with your question.
Complex requests (that that may require using resources from other repositories and that may take more than 30 minutes) can be completed on your behalf by experienced researchers for a fee of $20 for the first hour; $15 for every hour thereafter plus photocopy and shipping fees. Get your research started by placing your deposit via PayPal (below)!
Brookside’s staff and volunteers are happy to provide patrons with photocopies for a nominal fee (25 cents per page), provided the copies are to be used for private study, scholarship, or research and do not infringe on copyright laws.
The Director is responsible for determining which materials or records under his/her control can be made available for use and/or photocopied/ reproduced. Because of the physical condition of certain materials, access cannot be assumed nor can photocopies be made of all holdings.
If visiting our library in person, please request photocopies from staff.
Photocopies of holdings can be ordered by mail. Prepayment is required. Copies are 25 cents per page, plus the patron will be charged for shipping/handling.

Archival Print Reproduction
Professional archival print reproduction of images from Brookside’s collection must be approved by Brookside staff. The photographer handling the historic photograph reproduction must also be approved by Brookside staff. We recommend using Michael L. Noonan, professional photographer. The following prices reflect the costs for Michael L. Noonan:
Size (Black & White/Sepia)
4 x 5 ($14/$20)

In order to reproduce a historic photograph, a copy negative must be created. Although some of the images in our collection have a negative, chances are, the one you are requesting does not. Additional charges apply when a copy negative needs to be created. These charges range from $25 to $60 depending on the type and condition of the photograph. We will happily provide you with a free quote. The copy negative remains the property of Brookside Museum.
All prices are subject to photographer approval and depend upon the condition, quality, and type of original photograph.
The usual time to process a photographic order is four to six weeks.
Notice Concerning Copyright Restrictions
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserve the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would invoice violation of copyright law.
