Please note:  The fee to check the files for a will is $25.00 if the will was processed less than 25 years ago, and $70.00 if the will was processed over 25 years ago, regardless if they actually find the will.  If they do find the will, they charge an additional $0.25/page for copying.  If the will you seek was processed over 25 years ago, we encourage you to contract with us to search for the will.  Please fill out our research request form, prepaying the minimum fee of $30.00 and an additional $5.00 for photocopies ($35.00 total).  To ensure sufficient time to locate the will, please authorize one additional, billable, hour at $15.00/hour.  We will only bill that hour if that time is required.

Surrounding Counties
The Albany County Historical Association at Ten Broeck Mansion is located at 9 Ten Broeck Place, Albany, NY  12210.  As Saratoga County was once a part of Albany County, some information is still found in the Albany area.  This organization does not have a lot of genealogical information, but their volunteers are very helpful in steering you in the right direction.  They can be reached at 518/436-9826 or by e-mail at ACHAmailroom@aol.com.

Rensselaer County Historical Society
Warren County Historical Society
Montgomery County Department of History & Archives

Washington County Historical Society

State Resources
The New York State Library (518/474-5355, excelsior@mail.nysed.gov) and the New York State Archives (518/474-8955, archref@mail.nysed.gov)can both be gold mines for very diligent researchers.  The NYSL website provides a catalog, hours, and driving directions.  The NYSA website also provides an online catalog.  Both are located in the Cultural Education Center in downtown Albany, a facility shared with the enormous New York State Museum.
