| As
the home of the Saratoga County Historical Society, it is our job
to collect and preserve items that tell the story of Saratoga
County. Our collection contains over 20,000 items including photographs, objects, manuscripts, and
books.
Our
collections are stored on-site in our historic building. Because
we are permanently chartered through the New York State we strive
to meet or exceed collections care Standards as outlined by
the Board of Regents. We are committed to making these items
accessible to the public while balancing preservation needs. We
strongly encourage historical research using our collections.
We
have numerous resources available for researchers, including a
research library, vertical and surname files, and an online searchable
database of our collections. We also have volunteer staff who
generously assist genealogists with some of their research.
In addition
to resources at Brookside, we also work closely with the local
historians and other repositories in the area.
