Abigail May: From Boston To Ballston is a short documentary produced by Daniel DeFabio in cooperation with Brookside Museum.
Actress Alex Finocchio brings to life the story of Abigail May’s visit to the healing waters of Ballston with words taken directly from the many letters young Abigail wrote to her sister Lucretia. A copy of these letters are at Brookside Museum while the original documents are in the Schlesinger Library at Harvard.
Abigail was a relative of the writer Louisa May Alcott but the main value of her story is the first person glimpse it provides into life in Ballston just prior to it becoming one of the major tourist destinations in early America.
Providing the historical context for Abigail’s tale are two local historians, Field Horne and John Cromie.
The documentary will air on PBS (WMHT) on July 21st at 10:30 pm.
